ILKESTON Town Reserves bounced back from a 6-1 defeat at Holbrook St Michaels in midweek defeat by winning 4-0 at home to Belper United with Shane Newton, (2), and Paulo Pilieri and Gerry Moran scoring one apiece. Holbrook St Michaels, the team who beat Ilkeston in the week, lost 4-2 at Borrowash Vics Reserves. Richard Perry netted a hat trick and centre back Brent Contell headed the other as Newmount beat Shirebrook Town Reserves 4-3 to gain a vital Premier Division win.
Dronfield Town, meantime, made light of the fact that they had to include several reserves in their line-up by winning 3-0 at Allestree. Ripley suffered another home defeat, despite Steve Chambers scoring for them they went down 2-1 to Wirksworth Town.
Shepshed Dynamo Reserves beat Ashover 3-2 while Derby Rolls Royce Leisure won 4-3 at Sandiacre Town. Lee Bestwick, signed from Borrowash that morning, scored two for Royces on his debut with John Doran and Dave Bullivant scoring the other goals. Shaun Rickford, (2), and James Hunter scored the Sandiacre goals.
Division One Swanwick Pentrich Road ran riot in Division One action as they beat Little Eaton 8-1 with both Ben Barnicoat and Adam Puttock scoring in multiples. Joe Heron scored the Matlock United goal as they beat Willington 1-0. Phil Clarke scored from the penalty spot as Woolley Moor United beat Pastures in another 1-0 game. Tom Aston scored for Bargate Rovers but they lost 4-1 at home to Derbyshire Amateurs.
Eddie Smiley netted twice for Belper United Reserves but they lost 3-2 to Chellaston. Jonathan Webb was another player to score in a losing cause. as Holbrook St Michaels Reserves lost 5-1 to Matlock Sports. Craig Lewin scored the goal in normal time which enabled Little Eaton Reserves to draw 1-1 with Melbourne Dynamo Reserves in the Challenge Cup. Little Eaton winning 5-4 when it came to penalties.
Beeston lost 3-2 to Alvaston Silver Ghost - Tony Webster and Craig Howkins scored their goals - but the rest of the ties were generally clear cut. Certainly Findern’s 8-1 win over Pastures Reserves was - as was the 7-3 defeat Wirksworth town Reserves inflicted on Bargate Rovers Reserves. Jamie Milton, with a 30 yard lob, Richard Tomlinson and Rob Bolton scoring for Bargate.
Even more clear cut was Rowsley 86 Reserves 9-0 victory over Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves. Sandiacre Town Reserves won 3-1 at Mickleover RBL or Wirksworth Ivanhoe’s 3-0 win over Ripley Reserves. Dave Vinall, (2), and Robbie Thompson scoring for the Ivanhoe.
